Short cv:

Currently, Luiz Gustavo is working on sedimentary cores from the Equatorial Atlantic Margin of Brazil collected during the project "REsponse of the TROpical atlantic surface and intermediate waters to changes in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation" RETRO III expedition in 2009. His research intends to use geophysical and geochemical sedimentary data to reconstruct tropical ocean patterns and changes in intermediate and deep-water during the Upper Quaternary. The Equatorial Atlantic Ocean (EAO) comprises part of the Atlantic Meridional Overtuning Circulation (AMOC) and influenced by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), becoming one of the most important study areas to understanding the low-high latitude interactions and driving force for climatic changes. Some of the analyzes are being carried out: multi sensor core logger (MSCL), gammaspectrometry, X-Ray fluorescence (XRF), grain size, 14C dating, isotopic composition (δ13C and δ18O), total organic carbon (TOC) and Total Nitrogen (TN).

The participation in this training will represent a great experience and opportunity to improve abilities and providing more accurate, useful and relevant responses to the development of his dissertation and future works in the paleoceanographic and paleoclimatic areas.
