Short cv:
My name is Roger Manay, and I come from Chiclayo-Peru, and I studied Marine Sciences at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima. I did my master’s thesis on past and future climate changes in the Peruvian coastal area, using climate models and palaeoceanographic reconstructions. Currently, I work as an oceanography research assistant in the Instituto Geofísico del Perú, dedicated to data analysis from regional models and satellite data.
My academic background is compound by two sides: the first one is related to the current physical oceanography study of the Ekman processes in the eastern tropical Pacific. The study area is the Humboldt currents system off Peru, where I work with data from a coupled regional model (CROCO-oasis-WRF) and the last 27 years of surface wind satellite observations. The second one is regarding palaeoceanography, where I have been working with CMIP climate model data. I selected simulations for the Mid-Holocene and Pre-industrial to observe changes in precipitations over South America, induced by the ENSO. Besides, I have used a compilation of paleoclimate reconstructions to evaluate the realism of the CMIP simulation data sets.
