Short cv:
Carola is an oceanographer graduated from Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS), Argentina. During her studies, she participated in two research projects in the Microbial Plankton Group at the Argentine OceanographicInstitute (IADO-UNS-CONICET), where she gained experience in taxonomic identification and quantification of phytoplankton under light microscopy. At present, she is on the third year of PhD atIADO-UNS-CONICET, expanding skills on microbial plankton ecology.
Carola's research focuses on thedistribution and functional structure of phytoplankton in shelf and frontal areas, combining in situ data of plankton community composition, dissolved inorganic nutrients, chlorophyll a and CTD profiles, with satellite data of surface temperature, chlorophyll a and currents. This multi-disciplinary approach aims toelucidate the phytoplankton bloom dynamics in the Argentine shelf in relation to environmental drivers, crucial knowledge for planning sustainable management of marine ecosystem services.
