Short cv:

My current job activity involves assisting Dr. Maria Judith Gonsalves (Principal Scientist) at the National Institute of Oceanography in fulfilling the objectives of project titled "Geoscientific investigations for deciphering the Earth’s internal processes and exploration of energy resources", funded by The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). My duties mainly encompass methane studies in oceanic gas hydrate sediments and studies on methanotrophic and methanogenic bacterial load in the sediments that influence the methane cycle in the ocean and the methane flux to the atmosphere. My studies also involve molecular identification of methanotropic bacterial isolates with noval characteristics that can significantly modulate methane flux and engineer them to act as biofilters to maintain a constant concentration of methane in the atmosphere, thus acting as sink for methane leading to the reduction in global warming. As part of this programme I would like to have hands on and the know-how on GHG estimation/ analysis methods, data interpretation and also have an overview of other related ecological issues.
