General information
The R/V Meteor cruise M217 is a physical-biogeochemical oceanography study in the eastern tropical Atlantic. The major objectives of the cruise are:
- to enhance and service the ocean observing system in the eastern tropical Atlantic,
- investigating the variability of the eastern boundary circulation and upwelling off southwest Africa.
Priority areas
Physical processes in upwelling regions and long-term variability
What is offered
During the cruise, the trainees will gain hands-on experience and actively contribute to a wide range of physical oceanography activities, including CTD casts, turbulence profiling, mooring operations, underway measurements, seawater analyses, sensor programming, and data-acquisition techniques.
One of the fellows will further strengthen their skills through a one-month post-cruise training at the RECETOX lab, Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic), allowing them to build on the data and methods developed at sea.
