Short cv:

I am a Marine Scientist, and I hold a Doctor of Science degree in Marine Geoscience from the Ocean University of China, Qingdao, China. I currently research and lecture at the Department of Marine Science and Technology, Federal University of Technology, Akure, (FUTA) Nigeria.

This training programme is very relevant and useful to me as a researcher and lecturer, who teaches undergraduate students courses like ocean waves, ocean currents and circulation, coastal processes, etc. The training will expose me to a new hands-on experience. I will learn more about the North Atlantic Western Boundary Current (WBC) system and the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC). I will also receive first-hand training on how to recover and redeploy deep sea moorings and station work. In addition, I will be trained on underway measurements of upper ocean currents with the shipboard ADCPs, and about hydrographic measurements and thermosalino-graph probe. The training will greatly enhance my teaching performance, it will translate me from the realm of theory to practical.

It will be a unique opportunity to work with leading researchers from a world-class research institution like GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, Germany.  At the end, this short-term professional training will facilitate capacity building at my parent institution (Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria).
