Short cv:
I have studied Water Science - a combination of microbiology, chemistry and analytical chemistry with focus on water-related processes - in my BachelorĀ“s and MasterĀ“s at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany. During that time, I was involved in diverse research projects. For instance, I investigated the difficulty of blind measurements in freshwater microplastic analyses (TZW, Germany) and exudations from seagrass roots (UTS, Sydney). The complex interactions of roots with the environment really have sparked my interest and now, as one project of my PhD at the Center for Electromicrobiology in Denmark, I am trying to understand the relationship between roots of aquatic plants and filamentous, electric cable bacteria. Cable bacteria have only recently been discovered and the investigation of potential niches in extreme environments, such as in the deep sea, would require sophisticated sampling strategies and experience. Therefore I will take much benefit from all experiences on board of the RV Polarstern during the SoNoAT2019. Moreover, the SoNoAT2019 will help me to understand processes beyond my field of expertise and I am excited to meet people with diverse backgrounds.
