Short cv:

I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Abdelmalek Essaadi, Faculty of sciences and techniques in Tangier, and a former intern at the General Fisheries Commision for the Mediterranean, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. During my last internship at the GFCM, I had the opportunity to work in a highly international environment where I learned a lot of scientific research skills. As an intern, I was working on the impact of climate change on small pelagic species in the Alboran Sea (Western Mediterranean ), by using satellite data, measurement and fish catch data. The internship was under the supervision of Dr. Gorge Baro and Dr. Manuel Vargas Yanez, and Dr. Mari Carmen Garcia at the Spanish Institut of Oceanography (IEO) and I had the opportunity to work with the Mediterranean Climate Change group.

I am actually interested in modeling the influence of climate change on fast-growing species like small pelagics that represent around 51% of global catches and has a high environmental and economic importance. Before starting my Ph.D.  I obtained a master degree in Environmental Sciences at the faculty of sciences and techniques in Tangier. My college studies were conducted at the University of Hassan II in Casablanca, where I obtained a Bachelor degree in Biology.

Besides studies, I had multiple opportunities to intern in the National Fishery Office in Tangier and the National Institute of Fisheries Research in Mdiq and Tangier.

The shipboard training is a great opportunity for me to learn more about oceanographic analysis along with cruise data collection wish will allow me to get a better understanding of sampling techniques.
