Short CV

I am a Namibian marine biologist and a PhD student/Researcher. My academic and professional interests focus on marine conservation, fisheries governance, climate resilience, ocean sustainability, and Indigenous Knowledge Systems in coastal communities. I am currently doing my  PhD research project focusing on integrating Indigenous and Local Ecological Knowledge into fisheries governance and the Blue-Green Economy within Namibia’s Benguela Current region.Professionally, I have worked as a Marine Mammal Observer (MMO), laboratory assistant, and research assistant involved in marine biodiversity, fisheries, and ocean conservation initiatives.

I was also selected as an early ocean explorer trainee during an OceanX Education training mission across the Atlantic Ocean to Cape Verde, where I received practical training in oceanographic sampling, eDNA methodologies, ocean acidification analysis, plankton studies, and marine research techniques. Additionally,  I am developing an aquaponics project in Walvis Bay coastal aimed at promoting sustainable food production and youth empowerment.  One of the main goals of the initiative is to create employment opportunities and entrepreneurial skills development for young people in local communities.
