Short CV

I am a PhD student in Biological Sciences in Argentina, where my research project aims to characterize the marine virome in coastal areas of Argentine Patagonia using metagenomic approaches and flow cytometry. I am particularly interested in viral populations capable of infecting marine phytoplankton, and in evaluating virus-host interactions and their influence on biogeochemical cycles.
As part of my training, I participated in the 2025 JAMSTEC GO-SHIP P4W expedition aboard the RV Mirai in the tropical northwest Pacific Ocean. During this expedition, we surveyed a wide range of Essential Ocean Variables (EOVs), including temperature, salinity, oxygen, nutrients, dissolved inorganic carbon, and microbial communities, contributing to the global GO-SHIP observation network. I actively engaged in scientific activities such as the preparation and deployment of the CTD-rosette system, water sampling, nitrate analyses, and assistance with radiosonde launches. This experience strengthened my skills in oceanographic data collection and in integrating environmental and microbial information, further reinforcing my interest in linking field observations with molecular approaches to better understand marine ecosystems and their response to global change.
