Short CV

Dr Amarachi Paschaline Onyena is a marine ecologist and lecturer with expertise in marine pollution, biomonitoring, and ecotoxicological assessment of aquatic ecosystems. She holds a Ph.D. in Marine Biology, where her research focused on benthic macroinvertebrates and environmental risk assessment in coastal ecosystems.

Her work integrates field-based environmental monitoring and laboratory analyses to assess the impacts of anthropogenic stressors such as heavy metals and hydrocarbons on marine and freshwater environments. She has contributed to studies on water and sediment quality, biodiversity responses to pollution, and ecosystem health in the Niger Delta, Nigeria, and other coastal regions. Her current research interests focus on pollutant dynamics, ecosystem resilience, and sustainable management of aquatic resources, with emphasis on linking scientific evidence to environmental governance and policy.
